The Jennings Strouss Foundation received a special request regarding a new reading incentive program Gateway wanted to implement. Each student would receive “reading reward” points, which they can use to purchase items from the “Gecko Store.” Because the concept was new, the school was in desperate need of funds to stock the store. The Jennings Strouss Foundation responded by hosting a Corn Hole Tournament in the office of Jennings Strouss for firm employees. Teams paid a registration fee and held various internal fundraising events. The Corn Hole Tournament raised over $2,500, all of which was donated to help construct and stock the Gecko Store.
Since the creation of the program, the Foundation has helped keep the Gecko Store stocked. Through the generous donations of Jennings Strouss personnel, we donated over 250 items in October of 2018, over 650 items in March of 2019, and over 475 items in February 2020, including balls, bubbles, ear buds, cellphone accessories, pencil cases, cars, and games.
