He works with all renewable energy and fuels technologies with a particular focus on biogas, biomass, biofuels, waste-to-energy, and waste-to-fuels.

Biography

Mr. Ross is an energy attorney who advises renewable energy and fuels project developers on all aspects of project development, finance, and operation of renewable energy projects and other transactional and regulatory related matters. He works with all renewable energy and fuels technologies with a particular focus on biogas, biomass, biofuels, waste-to-energy, and waste-to-fuels. In addition, Mr. Ross works with energy services companies (ESCO) and large end-users of energy on energy-efficiency solutions. In that regard, he counsels both ESCOs and commercial real estate developers, investors, and managers to achieve energy cost savings through effective energy efficiency management strategies.

Additionally, Mr. Ross has earned LEED professional accreditation, the leading professional designation for the green building, construction and development industry, thereby further enhancing his ability to advise clients on achieving energy efficient and sustainable business practices.

  • Advise project developers on planning, developing, and financing renewable energy projects, especially in the bioenergy and biofuels space
  • Represent renewable energy technology companies on commercializing their technologies
  • Serve as general counsel to renewable energy project developers and technology companies
  • Provide counsel to sellers and large end users of energy on selling and procuring gas, fuels, power, and other energy commodities
  • Provide strategic advice to project developers on the purchase and repurposing of distressed fossil fuel energy assets into renewable energy plants
  • Advised project developers, investors, and contractors on all transactional and regulatory aspects of developing and financing renewable energy projects to ensure successful project completion
  • Assist energy services companies and large end users of energy in developing and implementing energy efficiency solutions to facilitate substantial energy cost savings
  • Acted as outside general counsel to renewable energy and energy efficiency companies to provide strategic direction and compliance and ensure successful project development
  • Advised renewable energy technology manufacturers, licensees and distributors on sales and development transactions and financing to create enhanced project development and sales opportunities through strategic alliances and other contracts
  • Advised renewable energy project developers, tax equity investors, private equity funds and contractors on developing and financing renewable energy projects ensuring successful, compliant project development and financing
  • Advised energy services companies and large end users of energy on strategies to contract for lower energy consumption and tax incentives or credits flowing therefrom
  • Advised cleantech company on obtaining financing, contractual partners, and strategic investors to foster corporate growth and development
  • Advised emissions trading exchange on contracting with municipalities, renewable power project developers, utilities and energy services companies to purchase and sell credits from verified emissions reductions
  • Advised electric and gas utilities, energy marketers, industrial concerns, foreign governments and local municipalities on complying with federal and state energy and public utility laws and regulations, especially regarding the restructuring of wholesale and retail electric and natural gas industries and other regulatory and rate-making issues
  • Advised energy solutions companies and large end-users, such as commercial property holders/managers retail chains and universities, on strategies to reduce energy costs, increase energy efficiency and foster the use or production of renewable energy and other demand-side management projects
  • Advised companies on the purchase and sale of electricity and natural gas assets and supplies and assisting such companies with securing financing for such projects
  • Advised alternative energy project developers and assisted such companies in obtaining project finance
  • Advised electric and gas utilities on complying with federal and state energy and public utility laws and regulations
  • Advised energy services companies and commercial property holders/managers on strategies to reduce energy costs and increase energy efficiency
  • Advised corporations on the purchase and sale of electricity and natural gas supplies and facilities
